Finding a Rhythm Again

Don't you hate it when that thing called a "job" takes over your whole life?!?!  I have been MIA because...well...somebody's gotta pay the bills!  I went through quite a rough transition coming off of my sabbatical and back into the swing of things.  Trust me, I know I have no right to complain about anything concerning a sabbatical, but I was not prepared for how long it would take to get my head back in the game!  I jumped in to teaching 3 classes, it's recruiting time for both of the degree programs I am part of, AND I was trying to design our big spring musical!  I was a hot mess for the first two solid weeks!

My schedule is chopped up into pieces leaving me very little time to get to the barn. I went the first few weeks with only Sunday rides.  Now I'm 1/3 of the way into the term and I finally feel like I know which side is up.  I think we're back into a rhythm. I think we'll be posting with a bit more regularity now.

I've found only two pockets of time during the week for me to ride so Junior is currently ridden by his OP on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, I'm riding Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays and he's getting Thursdays off.

I'm going to start calling the couple who leases JR his OP for "Other People." Just the other day a barn kid was watching me clip the boy's bridle path and she said "Are you helping out Junior's parents?"  I guess I've been more MIA than I thought! I explained that *I* was actually "Junior's Parents." For the record, I much prefer "Junior's Person" over "Parent" or *ack* "Mom."  I don't mind if other people refer to themselves as their horse's "Mom" but I really don't like the suggestion that I birthed that monster.  That's just me.

Our chiropractor came out last evening and noted a good deal of improvement in the boy.  His hind still needed a good bit, which I have noticed, but he wasn't nearly as messed up as he was back on November 30th.  He said his knees felt better so I should keep him on the ActiFlex4000 as it appears to be doing it's job.  He did still reflex a tiny bit for ulcers but he said he had to give over twice the normal pressure to get the tiny reaction so he wasn't concerned.

I am SOOOOO close to unveiling a new project I've been working on.  As most things go, it has taken a good deal more effort than I had initially assumed so I'm quite a bit behind schedule, but I believe if you're going to do something it's best to take the time to do it right. Soon.  Very soon.

We are just over two months from our first scheduled show!  I've got a lot of work to do in two months!

Just for fun.....

  1. "Birthed that monster!" LOVE IT! Because, you know, I refer to everyone as the mother of her horse, myself included. And mine is definitely a monster. :)

  2. Paying the bills sure does take away from the actual time to enjoy horses!
