Bit Warmer Pattern!!!

Hello Dear Readers!

First, I'll tell you that Junior is doing VERY well after his colic surgery.  He's scheduled to come home Tuesday morning.  Thank you all for your encouragement and support!  It means so much that we have such great friends spread across the world!

Second, I'll tell you that my Bit Warmer Pattern & Tutorial is FINISHED and is up for sale on my Etsy store!  It's been SOOOO long in the making!  I really wanted to launch it sooner, but getting the details of the file just right took many trials and some wonderful volunteer readers. It only took a touch more work to finish and what else do you do while your horse is in the hospital?!?!

You may remember back in November of 2010 when I posted about a microwavable bit warmer that I'd created.  You can read about it HERE.

The original worked, but this new version is much nicer.  A bit more complicated, but a LOT more awesome! Full description is on Etsy.

The pattern is a digital download (.pdf file) and includes step-by-step photos and instructions, so even if you're a novice but know your way around a sewing machine, you can make this.

I'm considering making some Kits that will include a printed pattern and pre-cut fabrics, but I'm sure most people find selecting their fabrics and colors to be the most fun part!  I sure do!

So go check it out and get sewing!

  1. Poor pony! So glad he's doing better. Maisie had several impactions when she was with me, including one requiring a stay at the vet hospital, but no surgery. Sending best wishes to you all.

Love the bit warmer! Just curious, will there be any finished products available on your Etsy site? :)

    1. I was hoping to avoid making more. I prefer the designing part to the sewing part. But, maybe! How do you think they should be priced?

    2. They just look so nice! I'm not sure I'll have much time to sew anytime soon, and was hoping I might be able to buy one that someone else sewed. :) As far as price goes, I'm not sure how much cost you have in materials, and, as always, time is the biggie.

  6. Hooray for Junior!

And great idea on the bit warmers, but I don't know very many people who have sewing machines. My mom does and I know how to use it, but it's in KY and I am in NC, LOL! I could be totally wrong, but I honestly don't know anyone except you in my age demographic (I'm 34) who has one. I'd be rednecking it with sticky velcro, some hand-stitching, and probably a knife and some hay string at some point (hey, gotta use hay string!).

I have an awesome drill, impact driver, and skilsaw though, can I make one with that? Hee!

Anyway, don't take much weight from that, just a thought. Or just have a "machine not required" design. I stitch the heck out of my turnout blankets!
